Goldfingers

It all started several months ago. Our sponsor, United St. Saviours made a request. Could The Shed produce some frames to house two new certificates of achievement awarded by the Mayor's office?
Shedist Peter Gazey rose to the challenge. Peter elected to use reclaimed oak from a cabinet which the Shed had taken apart for use as raw material.

After getting the frames perfectly square, Peter began the painstaking process of producing the surface finish. As a former "car man" working at Rover and also enjoying refinishing his own machines, Peter knows how to get a perfect finish. Layers of primer were applied, then topcoat, then knocked back with a finishing compound, then a final coat of a special wax used on the Aston Martin in the Bond films!

All of this produced a lusterous finish to the frames which had a rich gloss but allowed the grain of the oak to remain. Job Done!
The Frames were presented to United St. Saviours at their open day on 22nd July.
